Eat Smart, Live Strong (ESLS) is an evidenced based curriculum centered on the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. There are four interactive sessions designed to help low-income, older adults adopt two key behaviors that will improve their health and quality of life. The two key messages are:
- Eat at least 3½ cups of fruits and vegetables every day. (1½ cups of fruit and 2 cup of vegetables).
- Participate in at least 30 minutes of physical activity most days of the week.
Each lesson has individual objectives specified at the beginning of each lesson outline.
Resources have been developed to help educators plan programming using ESLS in their communities. An overview is available and lesson assessment tools have been developed for all lessons.
