Introduction to the Curriculum
Leah’s Pantry Food Smarts Waste Reduction is a stand-alone curriculum that covers information around reducing household food waste aimed towards adults. Curriculum on this topic for youth is in development. This curriculum consists of three 90 minutes sessions and covers topics including:
- Identifying areas of food waste
- Food safety
- Food storage
- Food preservation

Upon completing Food Smarts Waste Reduction training, Providers receive access to digital copies of instructor guides and workbooks. Printed copies can be purchased separately at the link below. Lesson plans are embedded within the current Food Smarts Adult Instructor Guide.

Curriculum Trainings
Trainings are provided through Leah’s Pantry with a self-paced online component and a live virtual component. The online, self-paced course will take approximately two hours to complete and must be completed prior to the 1.5-hour live (virtual) session offered once per quarter.
