Rinse beans thoroughly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In a large pot, mix beans, water, onion, celery and bay leaves. Bring to a boil. Then reduce heat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cover and cook over low heat for about 1\u00bd hours or until beans are tender. Stir and mash beans against side of pan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add garlic, parsley, thyme, salt, black pepper and green pepper.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cook uncovered, over low heat, until creamy, which takes about 30 minutes.
