Food Smarts
Introduction to the Curriculum
Food Smarts is an interactive, trauma-informed, learner-centered curriculum choice for nutrition educators bringing programs to low-income audiences throughout the United States, created by Leah’s Pantry. The curriculum is intentionally flexible; care is taken to ensure educators retain control over the type of activity used to meet the stated outcomes.
The Washington State SNAP-Ed program used Food Smarts for youth (grades 4-12) and adults. All educators using the curriculum are highly encouraged to attend a training.
Instructor guides support the participant workbooks. There is an instructor guide for adult lessons and one for youth. You may purchase the Food Smarts materials from Leah’s Pantry, see below for more details.
