Live Well Tips
- Horchata is one of the three typical drink flavors of Mexican aguas frescas (fresh waters). Tamarind- and hibiscus-flavored water are the other two.
- This sweet, creamy beverage pairs well with spicy food and is especially refreshing on a warm, sunny day!
Directions
- Wash hands with soap and water.
- Pour the rice and water into a blender and blend until the rice just begins to break up, about one minute.
- Let the rice and water stand at room temperature for about three hours.
- Strain the rice water into a pitcher and discard the rice. Stir the milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar into the rice water. Chill and stir before serving over ice.
